Mainstage Two Performance

Charlottesville Ballet’s professional company presents an eclectic afternoon of dance featuring classical favorites and new commissioned works.
The 90-minute performance includes the restaging of audience favorite “A Letter To My Love” by Rainey Lacey Jarrell (Atlanta, GA) created in 2011.
Take a “Sentimental Journey” through a time period that changed America forever. World War II inspired many women to join the workforce and become the infamous Rosie the Riveters. Watch as our Rosies live through the joys and trials of such an impactful time period. Includes music by – Rosemary Clooney, Vera Lynn, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and many other favorites from the Big Band era.
The concert also features classical ballet segments from The Firebird as well as choreography by company artist Mary Steward and CB Artistic Associate Dinah Gray. Guest choreographer R. Colby Damon (Philadelphia, PA) premieres his third work for the Charlottesville Ballet with a new contemporary ballet called “Inevitable Resonance” – click the video below to see the interview!
The Mainstage Two Performance will close with a restaging of Enter Play, a work by UVA Artistic Director of Dance Kim Brooks Mata, played with live music by local artists Katherine Nies, Sonja Dillard, Madeleine Stout, and Hayley Rose.
