The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia Presents Charlottesville Ballet's "The Firebird"
April 30, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Charlottesville Ballet is going on tour thanks to the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Join us in Northern Virginia at the Jewish Community Center this April for The Firebird.
The Firebird is a classic Russian fairy tale that combines all the elements of a great story: a handsome prince, a beautiful princess, an evil sorcerer, and a magical bird. This Family Series production includes an interactive presentation where you’ll learn ballet steps and see the beautiful dancers that bring the story to life! Set to the powerful score by Igor Stravinsky, The Firebird is full of romance and adventure – a story sure to enchant adults and children of all ages!
Take part in a special master class taught by Charlottesville Ballet Co-Director Sara Clayborne before the performance from 2:30-3:30pm. Class is open to students ages 8-17 with at least two years of dance experience. More information and tickets are available online here.
After the performance, join us for “Into the Wings,” a special event on stage that’s perfect for boys and girls ages 3-8. Decorate a craft, learn a dance from The Firebird, and take pictures with the characters from the ballet! A special all-inclusive ticket gives your child access to both the ballet and this private soiree!
