Dancing sylphs, a dreaming poet, and angels in shadows: Charlottesville Ballet presents an eclectic evening of dance featuring selections from the twentieth century romantic ballet Chopiniana and newly commissioned contemporary works by Ty Cooper, Julia Mitchell, R. Colby Damon (Philadelphia), and Maggie Small (Richmond Ballet). Swing into spring with the romanticism and beauty of the Charlottesville Ballet’s special one-time performance of Chopiniana + New Works!

Maggie Small is a stunning ballerina who has danced with the Richmond Ballet for thirteen years. She’s now turning her eye towards choreography…and Charlottesville audiences are in for a treat! Watch Maggie Small talk about staging her first choreographic work “A La Folie” on Charlottesville Ballet’s professional company: Guest Choreographer Julia Mitchell returns to the Charlottesville Ballet in 2017! Her new contemporary ballet “Next Step” is set to the music of Dave Brubeck’s famous work Take Five: Choreographer R. Colby Damon also returns to Charlottesville Ballet with his new contemporary work: “At the Prospect of Twilight,” set to music by Sonnymoon. Hear about his inspiration for the work in his interview:
