It has been a heart-wrenching weekend for our dear city of Charlottesville, VA. We are grateful to those who put their lives in danger to serve and protect the citizens of Charlottesville from the individuals spreading messages of hate and fear in our streets.
The Charlottesville Ballet extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives as a result of the tragic events on August 12. Our thoughts are with all of those who are injured — both physically and emotionally — from this experience.
We must remember that these events do not define us as a community. Charlottesville is place of joy, learning, culture, diversity, and art, and we will continue to cultivate all these things in the town we have called home for 10 years now. We refuse to let the abominable actions and messages of outsiders shape the future and footprint of our beautiful community. And we must be reminded that our voices are strongest together in courage and in our banded pursuit of a better, more beautiful tomorrow.
