After six years of working with Charlottesville Ballet, Ms. Moira is moving to Brooklyn as her husband is beginning an exciting new job with Columbia Cheese Company! Moira joined CB in 2011 as an apprentice, and was promoted to company artist in 2012. Moira began teaching for CBA as a substitute in 2011 at the Greene County location, later teaching as many as 15 classes a week in the Ballet’s current location. After retiring from performing in 2014, Moira has continued to teach at CBA. Moira became interested in arts administration while performing with the company, and has helped CB develop financial and organizational infrastructure throughout her time here. She holds a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Goucher College.
Over the past year, Moira has been working for the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) as a Development and Communications Specialist while maintaining a busy teaching schedule. In anticipation of her move, she is actively interviewing for her next nonprofit gig. While she will be occasionally substitute teaching some dance classes for her friends, she plans to slow down a bit and enjoy exploring New York City before pursuing a new teaching position.
Moira is sad to leave her students at CBA, but is already excited for upcoming visits back to Charlottesville, and hopefully teaching a class or two when she is in town. She has had the great experience of watching many of her students develop as dancers over the past six years, and is delighted to see where their training takes them. She is always ready for coffee dates if you’re in New York for an audition or summer program, so don’t be a stranger!
We will miss you Ms. Moira!
Any cards you’d like to pass on to Ms. Moira can be turned in at the studio, and they will get delivered to her up in NYC!
