It’s always been a family affair at CBA… but read the sweet notes below from the amazing daddy-daughter dancing team Eric and Olivia on how they feel about dance:
Eric: “Two and a half years ago my family and I started coming to CBA so that my daughter, who clearly could not sit still during music lessons and did not really enjoy any part of gymnastics except for the twirling spinning free movement, could benefit from some dance classes, which proved to be success.
What I did not suspect is that I would become a little jealous watching her have such a good time all the time, so I started to practice my “AIAP” (teaching step) while I was watching, and then just for fun to make my daughter happy I’d get her to teach me whatever she was doing at home. So we’d dance at home and on the playground and so I decided given the opportunity I wanted to try it for real for myself. This past summer I enrolled in the Adult Beginner Ballet class and Ms. Nina would watch Olivia after her own class got out. This fall my first academic book is coming out on the history of medieval astronomy and art, but my real quest is a perfect plie. In order to accomplish this without burning my “toasted buns” (reference to “toaster plies”) I’ve been practicing daily; Olivia, who is a very tough coach, supplies two bars if I can’t practice at the studio. I will happily give an update later but that for the moment is my quest. In closing, the only thing I would say as the main thing I love about dancing that I wouldn’t have known until I tried it for myself is that it is the perfect combo of freedom as your body moves on its own and it creates an enlightened spirit as your body speaks through the form.”
