Angles and LSO

Since the company’s inception in 2007, Lynchburg has been woven into the creation and presentation of new works. We have collaborated with regional artists and students from Dance Theatre of Lynchburg since 2009 and have presented The Nutcracker for 5,000+ patrons, first at E. C. Glass High School and now as Resident Dance Company at the Academy.

We partner with the Central Virginia Ballet school in Lynchburg to provide dance education and performance opportunities to young children ages 5 to 18, and as we move forward in Lynchburg, we plan to bring even more educational outreach to the region.

The Ballet is a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating the art of dance and promoting the health and wellness of our artists. We firmly believe that excellence in ballet is achieved by diverse dancers that represent our community.

KEITH LEE, DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY & INCLUSION, ARTIST LAUREATE, RESIDENT CHOREOGRAPHER

In 1968, Mr. Lee was the first African American dancer to sign a contract with the American Ballet Theatre. He has played a pivotal role in our organization since its founding in 2007, and will create his fifteenth work for our professional company this season. In 2020, Keith became the Director of Diversity & Inclusion and helped create our IDEA Committee, reflecting our continual commitment to making Charlottesville Ballet a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization.
