A Storybook Ballet Experience: “The Firebird” in Greene County
This Storybook Ballet Experience introduces children to the world of ballet through the eyes of the classic Russian folktale about a magical glowing bird that is both a blessing and a curse to its captor.
Join Co-Director Sara Jansen and the professional dancers of Charlottesville Ballet for an afternoon of learning, fun, and dance in the intimate CBA Studio Theater.
- Introductory Ballet Class: explore basic ballet steps and dance to the music of Igor Stravinsky‘s The Firebird Suite.
- Arts and Crafts Activity: learn the history of the classic Russian folktale and decorate your own crown or tiara!
- Performance Excerpts from The Firebird:watch professional dancers of Charlottesville Ballet perform excerpts from the storybook ballet featuring Prince Ivan and the beautiful Firebird ballerina.
