A Storybook Ballet Experience: “The Firebird”
Part of our Children’s Ballet Series, this event provides a hands-on experience where your child can take to the stage!
This Storybook Ballet Experience introduces children to the world of ballet through the eyes of the classic Russian folktale about a magical glowing bird that is both a blessing and a curse to its captor. Join Co-Director Sara Jansen and the professional dancers of Charlottesville Ballet for a morning of learning, fun, and dance!
- Introductory Ballet Class: explore basic ballet steps and dance to the music of Igor Stravinsky‘s The Firebird Suite.
- Arts and Crafts Activity: learn the history of the classic Russian folktale and decorate your own crown or tiara!
- Performance Excerpts from The Firebird: watch professional dancers of Charlottesville Ballet perform excerpts from the storybook ballet featuring Prince Ivan and the beautiful Firebird ballerina.

TICKETS: Each class size is capped at 40 participants, so space is limited. Tickets are $35 per child and all accompanying adults enjoy the event for free!
