About

“Excellence in Dance Education”

Charlottesville Ballet Academy (CBA) is a center for dance education for ages 3 through adult.  CBA is the official training school of Charlottesville Ballet, Cville’s non-profit professional ballet company whose mission is to promote lifelong health and well-being through excellence and access to the art of ballet.

Charlottesville Ballet Academy opened in the Summer of 2011 led by CBA Director Sara Jansen Clayborne and CBA Principal Emiily Mott.  The Academy is currently located in the town of  Stanardsville, VA in the former home of The Dance Barn, a school owned by former board member Kelly Silliman who played an integral role in Charlottesville Ballet’s professional company since its inception in 2007.

Effective July 2013, Charlottesville Ballet Academy will close the Stanardsville location and move headquarters into a new state-of-the-art facility in Charlottesville at 1885 Seminole Trail (on Route 29 & Woodbrook Drive) in Charlottesville, VA.   We are thrilled to be relocating to northern Charlottesville and offering accessible dance education to more members of the community. This location will allow the Academy to continue expanding and utilize three studios, enabling the organization to offer more dance and movement classes for all ages and carry on its mission for excellence in dance education.
